Anchoring: complete range for boats and dinghies
Good anchoring requires more than just an anchor. You also need a sturdy anchor line, ideally with a length of chain close to the anchor as a wear layer and to help the anchor lie flat, and sometimes an anchor buoy to mark the location. The anchoring collection at Watersportsonline brings this together: parasail anchors and delta anchors, anchor lines (anchor rodes), anchor buoys and ring fenders. See also the separate anchors collection, anchor lines collection and the full boat accessories overview.
Anchoring range overview
| Product | Application |
|---|---|
| Parasail anchor (1.5 - 12 kg) | Lakes, rivers, inland waters. Folds for storage. |
| Delta anchor galvanised (5-15 kg) | Firm ground, larger boats, better hold in currents |
| Anchor rode 10 mm 20 m | Standard anchor line for dinghies and small motorboats |
| Anchor rode 12 mm 30 m | Heavier anchor line for larger boats or deeper water |
| Anchor buoy 35 cm (orange) | Marks anchor position, visible to other vessels |
| Ring fender | Fender for mooring or as a floating buoy |
| SUP anchor (anchor bag) | Lightweight anchor, fill with ballast |
Always combine an anchor with the right line. Ideal anchor line length is 5 to 7 times the water depth. Anchor rodes are available in dark blue and black for good visibility.
What is an anchor rode?
An anchor rode is a thick, braided line made specifically for anchoring. The term historically refers to the use of a lead weight (plumb line) for depth sounding, but is now also used for heavy anchor lines. Anchor rodes are 3-strand twisted polypropylene, resistant to fresh and salt water, UV radiation and wear over the anchor stopper or bow fitting.
