Buy STX for windsurfing, SUP and watersports
STX is a European watersports brand that has been making affordable windsurf, SUP and surf gear for beginners, juniors and intermediate watersports enthusiasts since the 1990s. At watersportsonline.com you'll find the STX range with SUP paddles in Alloy, Composite and Carbon, SUP pump and accessories, windsurf masts C40 and C60 in RDM and SDM, the Cyber boom, sail sets HD2 and PowerKid for beginners and kids, plus separate fins, leashes and a kayak seat.
STX SUP paddles by level
| Paddle | Material | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|
| Alloy Kids | Aluminium, adjustable | Children, first SUP sessions |
| Alloy | Aluminium | Beginner and recreational adult |
| Composite 2.0 | Fibreglass composite | Allround, intermediate recreational |
| Carbon 40% | 40% carbon blend | Long tours, lighter than composite |
| Carbon 80% | 80% carbon | Race, touring, lightest in series |
A higher carbon percentage means lighter weight and a stiffer stroke, with less fatigue on long tours and more direct power transfer at race pace. An Alloy paddle is heavier but priced low, ideal as a starter or backup paddle. Have a look at the broader SUP paddle collection for comparison with other brands.
Windsurf masts C40 and C60
STX masts are an affordable entry for windsurfers building their first rig or looking for a backup mast. The C40 has 40% carbon, the C60 has 60% carbon. Higher carbon content gives less mass at the top of the mast (less swing weight) and faster mast response in the gust. Both come in RDM (thinner, stronger in crashes, for wave and freeride up to around 7.5 m²) and SDM (standard diameter, for freeride and cam sails from 7.0 m²). The Cyber 4.0 boom pairs logically with the C40 mast for sail sets up to 5.5 m². For mast choice and alternative brands, check the windsurf mast collection.
Sail sets HD2 and PowerKid
The HD2 Rig Monofilm is a complete entry-level sail set (sail, mast and boom) for adult beginners and light freeriders. It is a clear monofilm sail without cambers, with direct handling. The PowerKid Rig is the kids' variant with a shorter mast and lighter sail cloth, intended for juniors up to around 12 years or 40 kg body weight. Pair with a wide entry-level board or an inflatable SUP board with mast foot. For SUP pumps and inflation tools, use the SUP pump collection.
Frequently asked questions about STX
Which STX SUP paddle suits me?
For a first SUP paddle the Alloy version is enough. It's heavier than composite or carbon but priced low and robust enough for recreational SUP on inland water. Riders paddling several hours per session or doing longer distances feel the gain of the Composite 2.0 or Carbon 40% variant in fatigue and cadence. For race pace and touring of 10 km or more, the Carbon 80% is the logical investment because of weight and stiffness. Kids pick the Alloy Kids with adjusted adjustment range and lighter blade size.
What is the difference between STX C40 and C60 mast?
The numbers refer to the carbon percentage in the mast: C40 is 40% carbon and 60% fibreglass, C60 is 60% carbon and 40% fibreglass. Higher carbon content means lighter weight at the top of the mast and a faster-responding sail in wind gusts, plus less fatigue in your front arm after an hour of sailing. The C40 is an entry mast for beginning windsurfers and juniors, the C60 is the step up for intermediate freeriders who want more performance without going straight to 100% carbon. Both come in RDM and SDM versions.
Is STX an entry-level brand?
STX positions itself primarily as an accessible entry and youth brand for windsurfing and SUP, with price points below high-end brands like Severne, Starboard and Goya. That doesn't mean the gear is poor: the C60 mast and Carbon 80% paddle are fully-fledged intermediate products with good performance. STX is strong in kids' rigs (PowerKid), entry paddles and completeness of range for watersports schools and families.
Which STX set fits my child?
For children up to around 12 years or 40 kg body weight, the PowerKid Rig is the natural choice. The sail is smaller (around 2.0 to 3.5 m² depending on version), the mast is shorter and the boom light. Pair with a wide entry board or an inflatable SUP board with mast foot. For first SUP paddle sessions pick the STX Alloy Kids with adjustable grip that grows with the child. For leashes the SUP Ankle Coiled Leash is a standard safe choice that doesn't wrap around ankles or feet.
