Musto Sail Pants Men's BR3 Pertex Offshore Black

Musto Sail Pants Men's BR3 Pertex Offshore Black are built for serious cruising where you want to stay dry and agile, even when the wind picks up and the spray comes over. The outer layer with Pertex technology works with the BR3 membrane to keep water out while allowing excess heat to escape, keeping you comfortable during active sailing as well as while waiting. The high, adjustable shoulder straps distribute pressure evenly and prevent the pants from sagging when you bend or reach. A high waist and close-fitting seal around chest and back fit snugly under your sailing jacket, preventing cold or splash water from entering. For intensive deck work, the knees and seat area are reinforced, preventing wear from non-slip decks or benches. The fit is contoured so you can move freely when reefing, trimming or moving quickly, and the adjustable leg ends close neatly over boots or shoes without pinching.

On Dutch lakes and along the coast, you'll find that these offshore sailing pants excel above all in reliability and ease of use. Moisture wicking keeps your base layers drier and therefore warmer, while windproof construction repels wind when sailing against the wind or sitting still for extended periods. Practical pockets accommodate small tools or snacks without getting in the way when working with lines. The robust fabric feels solid, is easy to rinse after salt water, and retains its shape and performance after frequent use. Combined with a good baselayer and a waterproof sailing jacket, you have an effective layering system that will allow you to grow with the conditions through the season. Those who choose this Musto BR3 Pertex Offshore will find a down-to-earth, durable partner for long days on the water, with exactly the protection and freedom of movement you want. A sturdy and reliable choice for those who want carefree enjoyment on the water.

Musto

      Musto

Keith Musto arrived in Tokyo as an unlikely choice for the British sailing team at the 1964 Olympic Games. He was considerably too light and too small for the heavy Flying Dutchman boat in which he competed. Keith and his teammate, Tony Morgan, quickly came to the conclusion that their only chance of winning gold was to be fitter than their opponents. So they did the impossible. Daily training, including on Christmas Day, took place. Fellow competitors regarded their training as unsporting, but a new type of sailor was emerging. They were athletes.

Keith Musto recalls the words: “Every year we sailed in Guernsey sweaters and old flannel trousers. You got wet and you accepted it. We were aware that this was a problem that was going to be solved.”

After conquering the sailing world and winning silver in Tokyo (having missed gold by “nanoseconds”), he began manufacturing innovative technical sailing clothing.

A dilapidated Second World War prisoner-of-war hut in Essex marked the beginning of everything. Keith started sailing with Edward Hyde, under the name Musto & Hyde Sails. Keith soon turned his attention to manufacturing technical sailing clothing. He quickly taught himself all the fundamentals of garment making and paid his wife daily with a Mars bar to operate the machines and do all the typing.

In 1980, Keith parted ways with Musto & Hyde. His team quickly developed into the technical manufacturer and wholesaler of the finest sailing equipment available. It was specialised clothing worn and recommended by the most acclaimed sailors in the world. Musto had arrived.
