JOBE kayak for recreation and touring
A JOBE kayak is an inflatable canoe that lets you paddle across calm water, in a 1- or 2-person setup. JOBE supplies three main models: the Croft as entry 1-person kayak, the Gama as roomier 2-person variant and the Tasman as large 2-person touring kayak. All models come as a complete package: kayak, paddle, double-action hand pump and carry bag. Packed down they fit in a backpack and go with you on holiday.
1-person or 2-person?
The Croft Package is a manoeuvrable 1-person kayak for solo tours or for a lighter paddler; ideal for trips across canals, lakes and quiet rivers. The Gama and Tasman are 2-person kayaks, with the Tasman longer so it tracks better straight over longer distances. For anyone who paddles regularly with two people or wants to bring luggage, the Tasman is the more durable choice. The Gama is a good middle ground in price and size. Is an inflatable kayak sturdy enough?
Yes, a modern inflatable JOBE kayak with drop-stitch floor handles normal paddling conditions like canals, lakes and calm rivers. The walls have multiple air chambers (usually three or four), so a leak in one chamber doesn't sink the boat. The outer layer of reinforced nylon resists scraping over sand and light branches. For whitewater or rocky coastal paddling a hardshell kayak is still more suitable, but for 95% of paddle trips the JOBE Croft, Gama or Tasman is more than enough.
What is included in a JOBE kayak package?
A JOBE kayak package contains everything to paddle straight away: the inflatable kayak with air chambers, an aluminium or fibreglass double paddle, a double-action hand pump to inflate in five to eight minutes, a fin and a transport backpack with shoulder straps. With 2-person models you get two paddles or one long double paddle. Not standard: a life jacket, which you need to buy separately.
