Antifouling — protect the underwater hull from fouling
Antifouling prevents algae, mussels, barnacles and other organisms from attaching to the underwater hull. Without antifouling, drag increases significantly, leading to higher fuel consumption and loss of speed. The right product depends on your boat, the water type and how frequently you sail.

How to apply antifouling correctly
- Clean: Thoroughly clean the underwater hull and remove old antifouling where necessary.
- Sand: Sand the surface wet (80–120 grit); remove all sanding dust.
- Degrease: Treat the surface with thinners or a degreaser.
- Prime: Apply a primer when dealing with a new substrate or a change of material.
- Two coats: Apply at least two coats of antifouling; pay extra attention to the waterline and edges.
- Launch: Observe the maximum overcoating time stated by the manufacturer — if exceeded, you'll need to reapply.
