Choosing the right fin
A longer fin gives more grip and higher top speed; a shorter fin creates less drag and is ideal for shallow water. Wave fins allow quick gybes. Always check the box type (Powerbox or US Box) first.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I replace a fin?
- Loosen the locking screw, remove the fin from the Powerbox or US Box, clean the slot, insert the new fin and do not overtighten the screw – this can crack the plastic.
- How do I set footstraps correctly?
- Tight enough to stay in contact during a jump, but loose enough to come out during a fall (second-knuckle rule). Footstraps that are too tight are dangerous.
- What is the difference between Powerbox and US Box?
- The Powerbox is deeper and suited for race and performance. The US Box is shallower and more universal for allround and freeride. They are not interchangeable.
- When should I replace my board bag?
- When the inner padding is under 5 mm, the zip is broken or the shell is damaged. For air travel, plan for at least 10 mm EVA padding.
