The Helly Hansen Women’s Skagen Black Sailing Jacket is an offshore sailing jacket designed for female sailors who want to combine waterproof protection with a comfortable, tailored fit. The proven HellyTech® membrane keeps wind and rain out, whilst excellent breathability ensures you stay comfortable during active sessions on deck. The interior features a quick-drying mesh lining made from 100% recycled material for a fresh, lightweight inner layer. The hood, hem and cuffs are fully adjustable, and the high, fleece-lined collar offers extra warmth and protection when the wind picks up.

The Skagen Women’s features a number of specific details that make all the difference on the water. The extended back and reinforcement in the lower back provide extra protection when working on deck, whilst the extra-high storm flap completely seals the front zip against wind-driven spray. The warm fleece-lined pockets keep your hands warm whilst on watch, and the SOLAS reflective stripes on the hood, shoulders and forearms ensure visibility in dark or foggy conditions. In timeless black, this sailing jacket goes with any outfit and is suitable for both day sailing trips and longer offshore passages.

In 1877, Captain Helly Juell Hansen recognized the need for better protection against the harsh Norwegian elements. He and his wife, Maren Margarethe, began soaking coarse linen with linseed oil. This advanced process resulted in water-resistant clothing for workers at sea, and Helly Hansen was born.

Working from their basement, the innovative and hardworking duo tirelessly created workwear designed for long days at sea. The Norwegian manufacturer quickly became an important player in the clothing industry. Just one year after its founding, Helly Hansen received the first of many awards at the World's Fair in Paris.

The rest is a true Norwegian industrial adventure. In a short time, Helly Hansen increased production, built and acquired factories throughout the country, and expanded its product range.
