Frequently asked questions about Severne sails
Which Severne NCX size do I need?
For 75-85 kg riders the NCX 6.5 or 7.0 m² is the allround choice at 4-5 Bft. In light wind 7.5 or 8.5 m², in strong wind 5.5 or 6.0 m². Many windsurfers have a quiver of 6.0 + 7.0 + 8.5 to cover different wind strengths.
What's the difference between NCX and Gator?
The NCX is a no-cam freerace sail with stronger profile hold and higher top speed, suited for intermediate and advanced riders. The Gator is a light freeride sail that's lighter and more forgiving for learners and recreational riders. The NCX goes up to 9.0 m², the Gator stops at 7.5.
What's the difference between Blade and Blade Pro?
The Blade is the allround wave sail with premium X-ply for durability. The Blade Pro is the pro version with lighter construction and sharper profile response for competitive riders. Weight difference is around 200 g per size.
Do Severne sails work on other brand masts?
Severne sails work best with Severne masts (White, Blue, Red, Gorilla, ARC, APEX). They also work with IMCS-normalized masts from NeilPryde, Loftsails, Gunsails and North as long as the IMCS bend curve matches.
