Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between compressor and thermoelectric cooling?
Compressor fridges cool actively and maintain the set temperature reliably even above 30 °C. Thermoelectric models are cheaper but perform poorly in hot weather.
How much power does a marine fridge consume?
On average 3–8 Ah per hour, depending on the model and ambient temperature. The 58 L model draws approximately 4–5 Ah/h at 25 °C. Never discharge more than 50 % of battery capacity to protect the battery.
Can I use the fridge in a motorhome or caravan?
Yes. All models run on 12/24V DC and handle fluctuating on-board voltage well — perfect for motorhomes, caravans and off-road vehicles.
Can I use the fridge as a freezer?
Yes, many models can be set to 0 to −20 °C — convenient for fishing gear and food on longer voyages.
