What size Airush kite do I need?
Size depends on body weight and average wind in your area. For 75-85 kg riders at average 4-5 Bft, a Lithium 9M or 10M is the standard allround size. In light wind on inland water pick a 12M or larger, in strong coastal wind a 7M or 8M. Many kitesurfers have two kites in a kit (for example 9M + 12M) to cover different wind strengths. An Ultra V5 or large Lithium is ideal for light-wind days.
What is the difference between Lithium and Lift?
The Lithium is a 3-strut freeride kite with light bar pressure and direct relaunch, designed for beginners and intermediate freeride riders who want comfort and ease of use. The Lift is a 5-strut big-air kite with stronger lift, longer hangtime and higher jumps, suited for intermediate riders looking for maximum boost and kiteloops. The Lift has a sturdier frame and is slightly heavier in the hand, which is desirable for control in big-air conditions.
Do I need an Airush bar or will another work?
Airush kites are designed to work optimally with the Airush bar (sold in complete sets), but also work with other standard 4-line bars from Naish, Cabrinha or North with adjusted depower trim. The Airush bar has the Click-Stop trim system and the Airush Quick-Release safety which are directly compatible with the kite bridle. For beginners the complete Lithium or Big Air set is the worry-free choice.
How do I maintain my Airush kite?
Rinse your kite briefly with fresh water after every saltwater session, especially the Click-Stop centre line and SPS valves. Let the kite fully dry before folding: a folded wet kite can mould within 24 hours and produce yellow marks on the Technoforce D2 cloth. Store the kite in its bag at room temperature, not permanently in the sun or a hot car boot. Inspect bridle lines annually for wear.
