Buy wakeboard rope for boat and cable park
A wakeboard rope (also called a wakeboard tow rope or wakeboard handle) is a non-stretch cord of 16 to 20 metres with a handle that pulls you behind a motorboat or bridle system while wakeboarding, kneeboarding or water skiing. The range includes ropes and bridles from JOBE, with EVA or nylon handles in various lengths and colours. Building your complete kit? Combine with a wakeboard and optionally a JOBE wakeboard package.
Which wakeboard rope suits your level?
| Model | Length | Handle | Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| JOBE Wake Combo Prime (red/blue) | 16.7 m (55 ft) | EVA 15 inch, 27.5 mm thick | Beginner to intermediate |
| JOBE Combo Elite | 19.8 m (65 ft) | EVA 15 inch, 28 mm thick | Intermediate to advanced |
| JOBE Spectra PVC Coated Rope | 20 m (70 ft) | EVA high abrasion resistance | Advanced, competition |
| JOBE Frontier T-Bar | Variable | T-bar for two riders | Recreational, tandem |
| JOBE Multi Watersports Handle | Combinable | Universal | Wakeboard, ski, kneeboard |
Rule of thumb: for beginners, a rope of 16 to 17 metres with a thick handle (27 mm or more) is the comfortable starting point. Advanced riders go longer (20 metres) for more space between the boat and the wake. Handle thickness mainly affects palm comfort on longer sessions; too thin a grip leads to blisters and sore hands.
Bridle for boats without an attachment point
Many motorboats don't have a fixed attachment point for a wakeboard rope at the back. For those boats you use a bridle: a Y-shaped connector that attaches the wakeboard rope to two points on the boat, with the main rope as an extension. A bridle prevents the rope from getting into the propeller or the pulling force becoming too heavy at one point. The range includes the Watersports Bridle (8FT and 12FT) and the Magnum Bridle. For cable parks you don't need a bridle; there you hook directly onto the cable holder.
Frequently asked questions about wakeboard ropes
Why must a wakeboard rope have no stretch?
A wakeboard rope must be non-stretch (Spectra or comparable polyethylene fibre) because during tricks you need to pull on the handle with immediate response. Never use a water ski rope for wakeboarding as you lose the fine control needed for turns and air tricks. JOBE's wakeboard ropes have less than 1% stretch under load.
What length is right for my level?
Beginners start at 16 to 18 metres (55 to 60 ft). Intermediate riders move up to 19 to 20 metres once they start learning their first jumps. Advanced and competition riders use 21+ metres for maximum air. For cable parks, the rope length is fixed by the park itself.
What is the difference between the JOBE Wake Combo Prime and Elite?
The JOBE Wake Combo Prime is JOBE's entry model: 16.7 metre Spectra rope with an EVA handle 15 inches wide and 27.5 mm grip diameter. Available in red and blue. The JOBE Combo Elite is the step up for intermediate riders: 19.8 metre rope with the same 15-inch handle width but slightly thicker EVA (28 mm). Both use the same Spectra quality.
How do you properly attach a wakeboard rope to the boat?
The wakeboard rope must be attached to a high point at the back of the boat: a wake tower or pylon holder is ideal. If your boat has no tower, use a bridle (Y-connector) between two attachment points. Never attach to a single rear point without a bridle. A safe setup is a bridle plus a shock tube for the first section of the main rope.
