Step-by-step repair
Fully inflate the board and locate the leak with soapy water. Degrease the area with acetone, roughen with 120–180 grit sandpaper. Cut the patch at least 2 cm larger than the leak, let the glue tack for 2–3 minutes, press firmly and allow 4 hours to dry.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a SUP repair last?
With careful preparation the repair lasts for years — the bond is often stronger than the surrounding PVC. Surface preparation is key.
Can I repair the board on the water in an emergency?
Yes, an emergency repair on the water is possible, though less durable. Redo the repair properly at home as soon as possible.
Does PVC glue work on TPU boards?
No. PVC glue does not bond to TPU material. A specific TPU adhesive is required for TPU boards.
Can I use the glue on inflatable boats?
Yes, for PVC inflatable boats. For Hypalon boats a different adhesive is required.
