A kneeboard is a wide, flat board you kneel on and are towed behind a motorboat across the water. Because you use the low centre of gravity of kneeling rather than standing, kneeboarding is more accessible than wakeboarding and suitable for the whole family. As little as 15 to 20 hp is enough for an enjoyable session. Our range features kneeboards from JOBE, including the Sentry, Slash and Prophecy.
Which kneeboard is right for you?
JOBE offers kneeboards for every level, from family fun to advanced riders who want to learn tricks. The table below compares the three best-selling models on the key points.
| Model | Level | Max. weight | Construction | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JOBE Sentry | Beginner / family | 100 kg | Rotomolded | First-time kneeboarding, holidays, children |
| JOBE Slash | Beginner / intermediate | 90 kg | Compression molded | Regular use, light tricks, sharp turns |
| JOBE Prophecy | Advanced | 90 kg | Compression molded | Jumps, rotations, intensive use |
Complete package or board only?
The Slash and Sentry are also available as a package: including tow rope and life vest. A complete package is the easiest way in if you don't already have water sports gear. Already have a suitable rope and vest? Go for the board only and save on the total price. A kneeboard rope is shorter than a wakeboard rope (typically 15 to 18 metres) for more control at lower speeds.

Frequently asked questions about kneeboards
What is kneeboarding and how does it work?
Kneeboarding is a water sport where you kneel on a wide, flat board and are towed behind a motorboat across the water. An adjustable knee strap holds your knees in place on the board. The boat pulls you up to speed via a rope; once you have momentum, you use your weight shift to carve turns and time jumps over the boat's wake. Because you sit low on the board, maintaining balance is easier than in wakeboarding. Kneeboarding works from as little as around 15 hp of engine power, making it accessible even with smaller boats.
What is the difference between kneeboarding and wakeboarding?
In wakeboarding you stand upright on the board with your feet in bindings, which demands more balance and strength than kneeboarding. In kneeboarding you kneel, giving a lower centre of gravity and making the sport more accessible for beginners and children. Wakeboarding also typically requires more engine power (at least 20 to 25 hp). Tricks are possible in both sports, but the movements are different. Want a sport the whole family can enjoy? Kneeboarding is the easier starting point.
Which kneeboard suits me: Sentry or Slash?
The Sentry is made from rotomolded plastic: that makes it slightly heavier but robust and affordable, ideal for occasional use and families. The Slash is compression molded, giving a stiffer core, better response on the water and more grip for tricks. Are you going to use the board regularly and want to learn sharp turns and light jumps? Choose the Slash. Looking for a tough board for holidays or occasional use? The Sentry is an excellent choice. Both models are available as a complete package including rope and life vest.
What kind of boat do I need for kneeboarding?
For recreational kneeboarding with a rider up to around 80 kg, as little as 15 hp is sufficient engine power. A speedboat or dinghy with an outboard motor of 15 to 40 hp gives enough pull for enjoyable sessions. More power means higher speeds and bigger jumps over the wake. A flat hull without an exaggerated bow works best; the kneeboard rides smoothest behind a boat that produces a steady, not too large wave. Also check the local waterway rules: motorised towing is not permitted everywhere.
