JOBE wetsuit for summer, spring and winter
A JOBE wetsuit is a neoprene suit that holds your body heat during water sports like wakeboarding, SUP, jet ski and swimming. JOBE supplies wetsuits for men, women and kids in shorty (short sleeve, short leg) or full (long on both sides), in thicknesses from 2mm to 5/3mm. The most popular lines are Perth and Atlanta for men, Sofia and Savannah for women, Boston and Malmo for kids, and Yukon and Aspen 4/3 or 5/3 for the colder months.
Which wetsuit thickness for which season?
The thicker the neoprene, the warmer the suit and the less freedom of movement you have. Choose thickness based on water temperature, not air temperature.
| Thickness | Water temperature | Month (NL) | Example model |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2mm shorty | 20°C and above | July, August | JOBE Perth shorty 3/2, Savannah 2mm |
| 3/2mm full | 17 to 22°C | June to September | JOBE Perth Fullsuit, Sofia 3/2 |
| 4/3mm full | 13 to 18°C | May and October | JOBE Yukon 4/3, Aspen 4/3 |
| 5/3mm full | 10 to 15°C | April and November | JOBE Yukon 5/3, Malmo kid 5/3 |
The first number is the thickness on the torso (warmth), the second the thickness on arms and legs (movement). 5/3 means 5mm on the body and 3mm on the limbs. For wetsuits from other brands check our general wetsuit category.
Men, women and kids
The men's line opens with the Atlanta 2mm shorty, followed by the Perth 3/2 as all-round summer choice and the Yukon 4/3 or 5/3 for spring and autumn. Women choose between the Savannah as starter, the Sofia 3/2 with chestzip variant and the Aspen 4/3 for cooler days. Kids find in the Boston (3/2 or 2mm shorty) a suit that grows from size 92 to 176; for winter sailing there's the Malmo 5/3. Combine with a matching life jacket for water sports with speed.
Frequently asked questions about JOBE wetsuits
What size wetsuit do I need?
JOBE uses standard clothing sizes S to XXL for adults and clothing size 92 to 176 for kids. A wetsuit must fit tight without pinching the neck or armpits, otherwise water seeps in and you cool down. Measure your chest circumference and height and follow the JOBE size chart. Caught between two sizes? Pick the smaller one for summer use (warmer) or the larger one for intensive sport with lots of arm movement. With women's suits the fit around hips and thighs is narrower; pick by hip measurement rather than chest if they differ.
What's the difference between Perth and Atlanta?
The Perth and Atlanta are both JOBE suits for men but target different price points and use intensity. The Atlanta is the entry model with 2mm neoprene all around, basic seams and a simple back zipper; ideal for summer jet ski or SUP sessions. The Perth sits one step up in 3/2mm with more flexible neoprene, better seam finishing and a chestzip variant with a zipper on the chest that lets less water through. For weekly water use the Perth is the logical choice; for occasional summer sessions the Atlanta is more than enough.
How do I wash my JOBE wetsuit?
Rinse the wetsuit inside out after every use with cold fresh water to remove salt, sand and chlorine. Hang the suit in the shade on a wide shoulder hanger; never on a thin clothes hanger because it deforms the shoulders. Avoid direct sunlight: UV makes neoprene brittle. Don't use the washing machine, dryer or iron. For odour you can use a special wetsuit shampoo occasionally. Store the suit hanging or lying flat on a wide surface; folded in a hot car trunk it gets permanent creases in the seams.
Which wetsuit for wakeboarding or SUP?
For wakeboarding and jet ski you hit the water harder and want a thicker version: 3/2 for summer, 4/3 for spring and autumn. The Long John version with shin protection (like the JOBE Toronto Jetski) is popular with jet ski riders because legs hit the water. For SUP you usually stay drier, so a shorty 2mm or a 3/2 full is enough. A neoprene short or jacket combines separately over SUP trousers in the off-season. Kids on the water lose heat fast; always give them a thicker choice than yourself.
