JOBE kneeboard for behind the boat
A JOBE kneeboard is a knee board that lets you glide across the water behind a motorboat or at a cable park. JOBE makes three main models: the Slash as entry board with low buoyancy for starters, the Sentry for the middle group and the Prophecy for the real trick rider with sharp rails and high speed. Many kneeboards are also available as a package with rope, handle and bag.
Which kneeboard fits you?
The choice between models depends on your weight, experience and whether you ride behind a boat or at a cable park. Beginners want predictability, advanced riders want sharper edges for cuts and jumps.
| Model | Level | Shape | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|
| JOBE Slash | Beginner to medium | Wide rotomolded shape, forgiving | Behind the boat, recreation, kids |
| JOBE Sentry | Medium | Compression molded with better rails | Behind the boat, first tricks |
| JOBE Prophecy | Advanced | Narrow, sharp, fast | Cuts, jumps and cable park |
For kids the Slash is most suitable: soft on landings and wide enough to come up quickly. The Prophecy trades some starting comfort for speed, so wait until you can comfortably carve turns. For kneeboards from other brands check our general kneeboard category.
Rotomolded versus compression molded
JOBE builds kneeboards two ways. A rotomolded board has a hollow core filled with PU foam. That gives an affordable price and a forgiving ride, ideal for recreation and kids. A compression molded board has a pressed sandwich construction with wood core and epoxy, which produces tighter rails, higher speeds and better control on sharp cuts. The Prophecy and Sentry are compression molded; the Slash is rotomolded.
Frequently asked questions about JOBE kneeboards
What do I need to start kneeboarding?
For a first kneeboard session you need three things: a kneeboard with a solid handle, a strong waterski rope with grip and a life jacket of at least 50N. Many JOBE models are sold as a package that includes the rope, handle and sometimes a carry bag. A 3/2 thickness wetsuit keeps you warm in spring and autumn; in summer a shorty is enough. A boat from 50 hp pulls a kneeboarder smoothly out of the water, cable parks run at a fixed speed of around 30 km/h. For the first time we recommend starting in calm water so you can get used to the sitting position.
Can a JOBE kneeboard go on a cable park?
The Slash and Sentry are primarily built for behind the boat but are allowed at the cable park, provided you don't ride obstacles. For cable parks with kickers and sliders pick a board with reinforced ABS sidewalls that resists impact and scraping. The JOBE Prophecy has those rails; some cable parks require a park-specific board. Always check beforehand with your park which boards are welcome. For recreational towing or being pulled along a cable, any JOBE kneeboard works fine.
What size kneeboard for my height and weight?
Unlike a wakeboard, JOBE kneeboards do not come in length sizes. You choose by weight class and model. The Slash and Sentry are intended for riders up to about 90 kg and offer a wide average for the whole family. The Prophecy has a narrower plank and is better suited for riders between 50 and 100 kg who want to steer more sharply. Above 100 kg or for a shared family board, go for the Slash with its extra buoyancy. Our specialists in Joure are happy to help if you're unsure about the right choice.
How do I pull myself up on a kneeboard?
Start lying on your stomach on the board, with your hands forward under the handle and your feet out over the back. Give the driver the signal and keep your arms straight as soon as the rope tightens. The boat pulls the board free; you stay flat until the nose lifts. Then quickly slide your knees into the recesses, close the straps and come upright on your knees. After a few attempts this becomes automatic. Start at low speed (around 25 km/h) and build up calmly until you're comfortable.
