The Tohatsu 6 HP short-tail is suitable for dinghies, speedboats and boats where the transom is close to the water. The 6 HP comes standard with an external 12 liter tank.

The powerful Tohatsu 6 HP is compact and lightweight. The outboard motor is very easy to operate. Giving throttle is easy with the control stick that is on the front of the outboard engine. You easily switch between neutral, forward and reverse with the control lever mounted on the front of the engine.

Internally, the engine is very well equipped. The housing of the water pump is made of stainless steel which makes it last longer. On the tailpiece is an anode that protects the engine from corrosion. The cooling system is thermostatically controlled which ensures that the engine never gets too hot. High quality aluminum alloy is used and all internal passages are coated with zinc which protects the engine internally from corrosion.

There are several safety features. The engine has an oil pressure indicator so there is never too little oil. The engine has a deadman cord so that the engine will shut off if the operator falls overboard. There is a start protection device so that the engine can only be started when the outboard motor is in neutral.
