The Tohatsu 9.9 HP short-tail is suitable for dinghies, speedboats and boats where the transom is close to the water.
The 9.9 HP Tohatsu is an injection engine, so this outboard engine does not have a standard carburetor. The big advantage of injection is that the engine is a lot stronger. This new model has a very favorable fuel consumption for its HP. By the new techniques, this is a quiet outboard engine this is partly because the exhaust is processed in the propeller of the outboard.
Internally, the engine is very well equipped. The housing of the water pump is made of stainless steel which makes it last longer. On the tailpiece is an anode that protects the engine from corrosion. The cooling system is thermostatically controlled to ensure that the engine never gets too hot. All internal passages are coated with zinc which protects the engine internally against corrosion. A high quality aluminum alloy is also used which protects the outboard motor from corrosion.
