The Tohatsu 8 HP Long-Tail is suitable for sailboats and boats where the transom is far from the water.
The Tohatsu 8 HP is a powerful outboard engine with two cylinders. Because the engine has two cylinders, it is extra quiet. Inside the engine is a dynamo that can be used to charge a battery. Because of the large oil reservoir, the engine is optimally lubricated. Because of the trim tab on the engine, the steering force is very reduced, on the trim tab is an anode attached which prevents corrosion.
Internally, the engine is very well equipped. The housing of the water pump is made of stainless steel which makes it last longer. On the tailpiece is an anode that protects the engine from corrosion. The cooling system is thermostatically controlled which ensures that the engine never gets too hot. A high quality aluminum alloy is used and all internal passages are coated with zinc which protects the engine internally against corrosion.
