Musto Sailing Jacket Ladies BR3 Pertex Offshore Dark Grey

Musto Sailing Jacket Women's BR3 Pertex Offshore Dark Grey is designed for serious tours where you want to stay dry, warm and agile without unnecessary bulk. The outer fabric with Pertex technology works with Musto's BR3 membrane for reliable waterproofing and breathability, keeping out rain, spray and short showers while allowing heat and moisture to escape. The high, lined collar and adjustable hood offer shelter when the wind picks up; double storm flap and a water-repellent zipper reduce the risk of blowing water in. For hands, there are warm pockets in just the right place, while roomy cargo pockets keep tools or lines quickly accessible. For movement on deck, the jacket has contoured sleeves and a comfortable fit that won't pull when reefing or tacking, and adjustable cuffs close tightly around your gloves and prevent cold along the wrist.

On Dutch lakes and along the coast, this offshore sailing jacket proves its worth in varying conditions. Its breathability keeps you comfortable during active sailing; if you stand still for a while or sail against the wind, the combination of lining and windproof outer layer keeps you comfortable. Reflective details increase your visibility at dusk and in inclement weather, and the durable fabric withstands repeated use, salt and washing to maintain performance season after season. Wear it as an outer layer over a thermal shirt and midlayer, or combine it with sailing pants for a complete barrier against rain and spray. This makes the BR3 Pertex Offshore a down-to-earth choice for those who prefer reliability over frills and simply want good stuff that always works. A sturdy and reliable choice for those who want carefree enjoyment on the water.

Musto

      Musto

Keith Musto arrived in Tokyo as an unlikely choice for the British sailing team at the 1964 Olympic Games. He was considerably too light and too small for the heavy Flying Dutchman boat in which he competed. Keith and his teammate, Tony Morgan, quickly came to the conclusion that their only chance of winning gold was to be fitter than their opponents. So they did the impossible. Daily training, including on Christmas Day, took place. Fellow competitors regarded their training as unsporting, but a new type of sailor was emerging. They were athletes.

Keith Musto recalls the words: “Every year we sailed in Guernsey sweaters and old flannel trousers. You got wet and you accepted it. We were aware that this was a problem that was going to be solved.”

After conquering the sailing world and winning silver in Tokyo (having missed gold by “nanoseconds”), he began manufacturing innovative technical sailing clothing.

A dilapidated Second World War prisoner-of-war hut in Essex marked the beginning of everything. Keith started sailing with Edward Hyde, under the name Musto & Hyde Sails. Keith soon turned his attention to manufacturing technical sailing clothing. He quickly taught himself all the fundamentals of garment making and paid his wife daily with a Mars bar to operate the machines and do all the typing.

In 1980, Keith parted ways with Musto & Hyde. His team quickly developed into the technical manufacturer and wholesaler of the finest sailing equipment available. It was specialised clothing worn and recommended by the most acclaimed sailors in the world. Musto had arrived.
