For an average RIB or polyester sloop of 5-7 metres a bilge pump of 750-1100 GPH is the standard choice, with a hand bilge pump as emergency backup. Drinking water pumps you choose on tap points: a single tap works with 2.4 bar, two tap points with shower need 3.8 bar. The complete fuel tank sets are ideal if you don't want to DIY. Frequently asked questions about Seaflo

What bilge pump capacity do I need for my boat?

Rule of thumb: 350-500 GPH for small open boats up to 4 metres, 600-800 GPH for sloops and RIBs 4-6 metres, 1100 GPH for cabin boats and large RIBs 6-9 metres. GPH = Gallons Per Hour (1 GPH = about 3.8 litres per hour). For extra safety on larger boats install two pumps: an automatic standard and a higher-capacity backup. For saltwater a pump with stainless steel frame is sensible against corrosion.

Automatic or non-automatic — what's the difference?

Automatic bilge pumps have a built-in float switch that turns the pump on as soon as water level in the bilge rises. Non-automatic pumps need an external switch or panel. For boats moored long-term automatic is the safer choice.

Does Seaflo fuel tank fit my outboard motor?

Seaflo offers complete sets in 12 and 24 litres including the correct connector hose per engine brand: Mercury/Mariner/Tohatsu, Yamaha, Suzuki/Johnson/Evinrude and Honda. Always order the set matching your engine — connector couplings differ per brand. Check in the engine manual which connector system your motor has.

How much water pressure do I need?

For one tap point (galley tap only) 2.4 bar (4.3 l/min) works. For two tap points (tap + shower) take 2.8 bar or 3.8 bar (11.3 l/min). For larger boats with multiple tap points 3.8 bar is the logical choice. The pump switches on automatically when you open a tap.
