JOBE life jacket for water sports and on the boat
A JOBE life jacket is a buoyancy aid that keeps your head above water during active water sports. JOBE makes life jackets for men, women, kids and unisex models in both neoprene and nylon, with buoyancy from 50N for recreation up to 100N for true rescue jackets. All models are CE-certified and come in bright colours such as teal, dark blue, lime, red and black. For life jackets from other brands see our general life jacket category.
Neoprene or nylon life jacket?
The material determines comfort, fit and price. Neoprene fits snug and gives freedom of movement, nylon is light and affordable.

JOBE kids' life jackets come in nylon (one size up to 40 kg) and in neoprene for size 116 through 176. Both have 50N buoyancy and are ISO-certified. For your four-legged friend JOBE offers a separate dog life jacket with a handle on the back.
Frequently asked questions about JOBE life jackets
What is the difference between 50N and 100N?
The N stands for Newton of buoyancy. A 50N jacket is a swimming aid that keeps active swimmers above water as long as they cooperate. Most JOBE neoprene and nylon life jackets fall into this class and are intended for wakeboarding, SUP, jet ski and recreational sailing. A 100N rescue jacket gives more upward force and turns an unconscious person onto their back, also in rough water. The JOBE Comfort 100N is such a rescue jacket, suitable for open water and sailing. For inland water with sport purposes 50N is enough, for offshore or non-swimmers pick 100N or heavier.
What size life jacket do I need?
JOBE determines size by chest circumference and body weight. A unisex universal variant such as the JOBE 4-Buckle or Universal jacket fits anyone from 40 kg upwards, provided the buckles are well adjusted. With the fitted men's and women's models (Perth, Sofia, Unify, Fragment) fixed sizes from XS to 5XL apply. Always adjust the jacket so the shoulder sections don't slide over your ears when someone lifts you by the top. For kids size goes by weight: nylon variant up to 40 kg, neoprene variant by clothing size 116 to 176.
Can I put my JOBE life jacket in the washing machine?
No, a life jacket does not belong in the washing machine or dryer. The heat and spinning damage the foam and reduce buoyancy. Rinse your jacket after each use with fresh water to remove salt, chlorine and sand. Let it dry in the shade on a wide hanger, not in direct sunlight because UV cracks the neoprene and plastic clips. Persistent odour? A mild soap and hand washing works. Store the jacket dry, not folded in a hot car trunk.
How long does a life jacket last?
With proper care a JOBE neoprene or nylon life jacket lasts at least five to seven seasons. Check the seams, zippers, buckles and foam every spring for cracks or flattened spots. Does the foam feel hard or are there holes in the seams? Replace the jacket. For 100N rescue jackets stricter maintenance applies: these are certificate-sensitive and must be inspected if you use them professionally or for insurance. Don't store the jacket for years in a damp garage; mould attacks the synthetic outer material.
