JOBE Funtube for behind the boat
A JOBE Funtube is an inflatable tube you tow behind a motorboat for speed, jumps and laughs on the water. JOBE makes towable tubes in all shapes: from a fast 1-person disc to a banana for eight people. The range includes Rumble, Droplet, Binar, Airstream, Banaan Chaser, Scout, Hydra, Proton and the children's Shark Trainer, separately or as a complete package with rope, pump and quick release.
Which funtube fits which boat?
The size of your funtube depends on your boat's power and how many people will ride it. You can tow a small 1-person disc easily with a 15 hp outboard, while a 4-person banana needs at least 70 hp to pull through a turn.
| People | Shape | Minimum motor power | Example model |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | Disc or seat | 15 hp | JOBE Rumble 1, Hotseat |
| 2 people | Disc or banana | 40 hp | JOBE Droplet 2, Airstream 2 |
| 3 people | Lounger or banana | 60 hp | JOBE Binar 3, Scout 3 |
| 4 people | Banana or lounger | 70 hp | JOBE Banaan Chaser 4, Binar 4 |
For RIBs with low horsepower the rule is: less power means more volume. A thick funtube with high volume rides high and gets onto plane faster than a flat disc. For a broader cross-brand overview see our general funtube category.
Funtube rope and bridle
A funtube without a proper rope is a funtube without fun. JOBE supplies dedicated funtube ropes in capacities from 1-2 person up to 10 person. Boat without a tow pole? Use a bridle across the transom to keep the rope clear of the propeller. A quick release makes it safe to disconnect during a sharp turn. Don't forget a proper life jacket for every passenger, especially when riding with kids.
Frequently asked questions about JOBE funtubes
How much hp do I need for a JOBE funtube?
A 1-person funtube like the JOBE Rumble or Hotseat tows with 15 hp, provided your passenger weighs no more than 80 kg. A 2-person disc like the Droplet or Airstream needs around 40 hp, a 3-person banana about 60 hp and the larger 4-person models at least 70 hp. The rule JOBE itself follows: less motor power requires more volume in the tube, otherwise the tube doesn't lift out of the water fast enough. For RIBs you always pick the thicker, rounder variants with high buoyancy.
What is the difference between a banana, disc and lounger funtube?
A disc is round and flat: fast, agile and tips easily in turns. That's where your passenger gets the most action. A banana is elongated with multiple seats in a row, ideal for groups and kids because you can steer calmly without dramatic flips. A lounger or seat tube has a backrest and is built for floating or relaxed towing, not sharp turns. For pure adrenaline pick an Airstream or Rumble disc, for family fun the Banaan Chaser or Binar lounger.
What is included in a JOBE funtube package?
A JOBE package is a complete starter set that gets you on the water straight away. The box contains the funtube itself, a matching funtube rope, a quick release coupling, a hand pump and a ski flag. Packages are available for the Rumble, Droplet and Airstream among others. Does your chosen funtube not come as a package? You can assemble your own set: each product page lists the matching accessories and the correct rope. It often saves tens of euros compared to buying separately.
Can you use a JOBE funtube with a RIB?
Yes, as long as your RIB has enough power to pull the funtube on plane. A 1-person JOBE Scout or Hotseat is fine with a 15 hp outboard, provided the passenger isn't too heavy and the boat picks up speed quickly. For 2-person variants pick a RIB from 30 hp upwards. Always use a bridle to route the rope around the transom so it stays clear of the propeller. A RIB without a tow pole is no problem as long as you take these precautions.
