Clear or Coloured?
Clear varnishes with a UV filter are ideal for wood and gelcoat when you want the natural grain or colour to remain visible. Coloured varnishes cover imperfections and give the boat a uniform, bright appearance. Always choose a varnish with a UV filter for lasting outdoor protection.
Application and Coat Build-Up
Sand the surface with 220–320 grit paper. Apply varnish at temperatures between 10 and 25 °C — avoid direct sunlight. Apply by brush, roller, or spray. Plan for 2–3 coats, lightly sanding between each coat as directed by the manufacturer.
