AK
Along the rugged coastline of Cape Town, AK was born from the passion of a dedicated group of water enthusiasts. Their mission? To create products that become an extension of the human body, where people and nature seamlessly converge as one.
With a carefully curated range of technical components, boards, and accessories, AK strives to enrich your life on the water. Driven by the pursuit of wind and waves, they continuously push the boundaries of their own abilities and their equipment.
AK is part of the privately owned SESTAR group and was founded by the creative and technical minds behind the innovative Solar Station Design company in Cape Town. This small collective of designers and innovators has been developing products for the surf, wake, and wind sports industries for more than 25 years.
Their goal is clear: to forge a new path with high-quality, durable, and essential products that resonate with like-minded adventurers on the water.
The first products saw the light of day in 2018, developed by Clinton Filen, Graham Wiles, and later joined by Craig Tompkins. In 2019, an impressive team of athletes joined AK: South African surfer Dale Staples, Canadian kiteboard champion Jack Reider, and Spanish champion Kiko Roig Torres. Together, they formed the core of the early team riders.
Since then, AK has grown into a close community of passionate watermen who have not only propelled the brand forward, but also continue to contribute to the ongoing innovation that defines AK.
