Looking for a WetsuitChild? During a day of water activities like swimming or water sports, of course you want your child to be warm and comfortable!
A children's wetsuit mainly provides protection from cold water but also from the sun or other outside influences. A wetsuit is made of neoprene, which is a soft and flexible material that fits tightly around the body. When swimming in a wetsuit, the layer of water between the body and the neoprene is warmed up. Children often get cold faster than adults so when they play in and around the water all day it is recommended to wear a wetsuit. There are different models and thicknesses available, the right choice depends on the outdoor and water temperature.
WETSUIT CHILD MODELS
What model wetsuit child do you need? Wetsuits are available in different models, in the children's sizes there is a distinction between a fullsuit or a shorty. A fullsuit is a wetsuit with long sleeves and trouser legs. A fullsuit covers and protects the entire body with neoprene. With a fullsuit, the neoprene on the torso is often thicker than on the arms and legs. For warmer conditions there is a shorty wetsuit child, because even then the necessary protection is still desired. This model has short sleeves and trouser legs.
Considering the water temperature, the fullsuit is the most sold model in the Netherlands. In addition, a fullsuit naturally offers more protection than a shorty, which can also be an important consideration. Combined with water shoes and a matching life jacket, your child can play safely in and around the water!
WHAT THICKNESS WETSUIT CHILD?
What wetsuit thickness do you need? This is an important question to consider when buying a wetsuit child. The right thickness depends on several factors, such as the use, the time of year and therefore the water temperature. The thicker the wetsuit, the warmer you will stay. In the spring and fall the water is colder and you will need a thicker wetsuit than in the summer months. The most commonly sold wetsuit for children is a fullsuit with 3 mm thick neoprene on the torso and 2 mm on the arms and legs. This suit is suitable for a water temperature of about 14-20 degrees, which corresponds to the average water temperature in the Netherlands during the summer months. For colder months you can choose for example a 5/3mm wetsuit and for very hot days you can choose a shorty, these are often 2mm thick. This way a child still has the necessary protection without getting too hot!
FIT FOR WETSUIT CHILD
It is important that the wetsuit has the perfect fit, this is important because too much water will get between the body and the wetsuit. If this happens, the insulating effect of the wetsuit no longer works and your child will still get cold in the water. It is important to pay close attention to the size wetsuit you purchase for your child. Buying a wetsuit child growing up is possible, but don't buy it too big. Don't buy the wetsuit too small either, that will cause the zipper to stop closing and the suit to have no freedom of movement.
JOBE WETSUIT CHILD
JOBE is a Dutch water sports brand and one of the market leaders in water sports clothing. JOBE has a wide range of wetsuits, also in children's sizes. The children's wetsuits are suitable for both boys and girls, no distinction is made in the fit for a boy or a girl.
JOBE wetsuits have a good flexibility that allows children a good freedom of movement and therefore the wetsuit has a comfortable fit. This is of course very important when children play in it all day! The JOBE Boston Wetsuit is a popular model for children. It is available in both a shorty and a fullsuit and in the different colors blue, pink, green and red! These colors can be combined with other items from the JOBE range such as a matching life jacket.
