Looking for a ladies wetsuit? We have a wide selection of women's wetsuits for different seasons in our watersports store.
A wetsuit provides warmth and protection in the water. This is nice, because when you are in the water for a long time, of course you don't want to get cold. Wetsuits are nowadays indispensable during water sports. A wetsuit is widely used for sports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding and supping.
In addition, neoprene also works as a protective layer during wakeboarding or water skiing, for example, as it can cushion a fall. In our assortment we have wetsuits from JOBE, Prolimit, Helly Hansen, Hurley and Magic Marine, among others. For sailing, a wetsuit from Magic Marine or Helly Hansen is better suited. For surfing and fun sports, a wetsuit from Prolimit, Hurley or JOBE is more suitable.
HOW DOES A WETSUIT FOR WOMEN WORK?
How does a wetsuit provide warmth? A wetsuit is made of neoprene, a flexible and soft material. The thicker the neoprene, the warmer the suit is. The effect of a wetsuit is optimal when the suit is wet.
While you are in the water, a thin layer of water gets between your skin and the wetsuit. Thanks to the action of the neoprene, this layer of water is warmed up. It is therefore important that a wetsuit fits snugly around the body. If the suit is too loose, the neoprene can bulge and cold water keeps entering, preventing you from staying warm. While trying on a wetsuit, it can feel very tight, but luckily when you wear the wetsuit in the water, it becomes more flexible!
With fullsuits, the neoprene on the body is always slightly thicker than on the arms and legs. With a summer wetsuit, this is almost always the same. Would you like to try on a wetsuit? Then stop by our megastore. Here hangs our wide range of ladies wetsuits, and our watersports specialists are ready to help you determine the right size.
DIFFERENCES IN LADIES WETSUITS
There are many different types of ladies wetsuits. We have a wide range with choices of different models and thicknesses. But which model and thickness do you need? The right choice depends mainly on usage and outdoor and water temperature. Several models are made because each season naturally requires different protection and insulation.
The two most popular models are the fullsuit and the shorty wetsuit. A fullsuit is a suit with long sleeves and trouser legs that thus protects the entire body. This is especially nice in the spring and fall when the water can still be cold. A fullsuit comes in different thicknesses, so there is a suitable suit for every season! The most popular model in the Netherlands is a 3/2mm fullsuit. This is suitable for a water temperature of about 14 to 20 degrees. On warm days you can opt for a shorty. A shorty has short sleeves and short legs. This way you still have the necessary protection during water sports without being too hot!
Shorty wetsuit ladies
Where a fullsuit covers your entire body, a shorty covers only your torso and part of your arms and legs. A shorty is less thick than a fullsuit, which is why they are perfect for warmer temperatures such as a summer evening. The neoprene of a shorty provides enough insulation without making you too hot during exercise. In addition, a shorty offers sufficient freedom of movement, allowing you to fully enjoy activities such as kitesurfing, wakeboarding or supping.
WHAT THICKNESS IS SUITABLE FOR WOMEN'S WETSUITS
In general, women get cold faster compared to men, although of course this is also personal. If you are really cold, we recommend choosing a wetsuit with a thicker lining. For winter we recommend a thickness of 6/4mm or 5/4mm, so that you remain well protected from the cold. A thickness of 4/3mm is perfect for spring and fall, when temperatures are milder and you still need some extra warmth. For hot summer days, a 3/2mm wetsuit is ideal, keeping you comfortable and flexible during your water sports activities.
Tips for choosing the right women's wetsuit size
Ladies wetsuits have a different fit unlike men's wetsuits. Women's wetsuits are narrower in the shoulders and wider at the hips to better fit the female body shape. It is important that you choose the right size when buying a wetsuit, which will allow the wetsuit to function optimally.
It is important that the wetsuit fit snugly to the body, but not so tight that it is uncomfortable. A wetsuit always stretches a little once it is wet, but it should be snug when you fit it dry. It is most important that it fits well around the shoulders and abdomen. In addition, it is also wise to look at the legs; they should fit like leggings. If this is all correct, then you have a good wetsuit for getting out on the water.
WHICH ZIPPER IS SUITABLE FOR WHICH SPORT
In our assortment we offer different women's wetsuits with different zippers: a chest zip and a back zip. A back zip is a traditional wetsuit with the zipper on the back, this is ideal for quieter sports where you don't need a lot of flexibility, like water skiing. For surfing, we always recommend a chest zip. With a zipper on the front you have more flexibility and less water gets into the suit, ideal for sports like kitesurfing, windsurfing and wakeboarding.
JOBE WETSUIT LADIES
JOBE is one of the biggest watersports brands in the Netherlands. They have many ladies wetsuits in different models, thicknesses, colors and with a nice fit. JOBE carefully chooses their materials and uses the best neoprene types within affordable price ranges. A popular model from JOBE is the Sofia wetsuit, both in fullsuit and shorty versions. Much attention is paid to the fit of the wetsuits. JOBE uses its own sizing based on average European sizes, with intermediate or length sizes, for example. This means that even for less standard sizes, JOBE has a fitting wetsuit with a sparkling look!
