THE HISTORY OF AIRUSH
Airush has a remarkable story to tell about the origins of the brand, which began with two men selling windsurfing booms. Initially, they were distributors of Wipika kites, until they lost the distribution rights and were forced to develop their own kites. "We manufactured some prototype kites and sent them to Starboard (the windsurfing company). Whether they helped us, I'm not sure, but we realized it was time to follow our own path. Starboard took the lead in R&D for all kites." This marked the beginning of Airush as an independent brand, driven by innovation and determination.
Airush also has the longest-standing board model in the history of kitesurfing: the Airush Switch. It all started in 2001 with the Switch Classic, a striking twintip board with an asymmetrical rocker line and adjustable footstraps that could be set up the same as a directional board. After a few years, it evolved into a model with a symmetrical rocker line that looked more like the classic freeride outline we know today. This constant innovation and adaptation has made the Switch one of the most iconic and enduring board models in the kitesurfing world.
